Wyckoff Boutique Donates To Families Who Have Children In Need

WYCKOFF, N.J. — A Wyckoff shop owner who was touched by a personal tragedy is raising money for a borough-based nonprofit organization that helps children with terminal diseases and chronic illnesses.

Wyckoff business owner Patricia LaCourte donated a percentage of sales to a nonprofit in the borough.

Several volunteers stopped by on the rainy day to participate in the second year of the event and browse through holiday boutique items for the home.

Patricia LaCourte donated 15 % of all sales at Eurica on Wyckoff Avenue to Julia's Butterfly Foundation. The organization honors a Midland Park girl who had been born with cerebral palsy and passed away in 2005 at 6 years old.

Julia's Butterfly Foundation aims to improve the lives of terminally and chronically ill children and their families by providing financial aid, physical assistance and services to those in need.

“My husband had cancer and unfortunately passed away,” said LaCourte, of Morristown. “I love to give back in some way to help others.”

LaCourte met Catherine Brefach Newman, a nurse who serves on the board and others from the organization, through her business.

“I thought about donating a basket, but I wanted to give more and more,” LaCourte said. “People who go through hard moments - it’s a difficult time for a human being, its nice when you find the support.”
